If you have lost a tooth, and you do not like the gap, then often a bridge is a suitable way of filling the space.
A dental bridge is a false tooth that is used to fill the gap. Unlike traditional removable dentures, a dental bridge is permanent as it is anchored to the teeth at one, or both, sides. If well cared for, a dental bridge should last for 10 to 15 years.
Bridges can be attached to the teeth, by either a crown or an adhesive wing that sticks to the back of the tooth. They are usually made from porcelain with a reinforced sub-structure of either metal or other tooth coloured substitutes.
It is important to keep the teeth either side of the bridge healthy and you may be required to use special floss to clean under the bridge itself.
Your dentist will be able to advise you on which bridges might be more suitable for you.
Dental bridges are customised fixed false teeth that bridge a gap created by one of more missing teeth.
