Teeth Whitening

At-home tray whitening system.

Impressions are taken of the teeth and a light weight mouth guard is constructed that fits your teeth accurately. After instruction from your dentist, you place the peroxide gel that is prescribed, into the trays and seat them over the teeth for 3 hours. You then use the tray system over 10-14 days to gradually lighten them to the shade that you are happy with.

The benefits of this system are:

  • The trays can be used again in the future to help maintain your newly lightened teeth.
  • You can use your trays to help desensitise the teeth by filling them with Sensodyne toothpaste and wearing them like this for an hour or two.

Philips zoom! In-office Whitening System.

This procedure takes place solely within the dental practice.

During the appointment your gums are isolated using special materials and whitening gel is placed directly onto the tooth surface. A special high-intensity light is focused on the teeth for 15 minutes. The gel is then removed and replaced with fresh gel. The light is focused on the teeth again. This is process is completed a total of four times. The light activates the gel on the teeth to make it work quickly, accelerating the whitening process. The results from this session should give you a week’s worth of home whitening.

  • Not having to wear the whitening trays for long periods
  • You get to lie down for an hour in the middle of the day!

This combined system gives you the best of both worlds! An initial boost of whitening, followed by using the tray system for that extra “bling factor!” After the in-Office whitening you would wear the whitening trays for 30 minutes, possibly twice a day, for the next 4-5 days. You can then purchase further top-up whitening pods to use in the future to keep you smiling brightly!

Please be aware, whitening gels will only lighten natural tooth structure and will not have any effect on crowns or filling materials. Your dentist can advise you on how this may affect you. A whitening assessment is necessary before commencing any whitening treatment.
